• Lisbon has the widest choice. An hour covers Alfama and a viewpoint, or the riverside at Belém; crossing the city takes two.
• Porto ties with Lisbon for the lowest typical price for two hours, €520. An hour covers one bank of the Douro; two hours add Foz, where the river meets the sea.
• Sintra is spread over a wooded hill, so an hour is one place done well. Palace and park tickets are extra, and Pena plus the coast is a half day.
• Cascais has the old town and the cliffs out to Boca do Inferno within walking distance. Guincho needs a car and a longer booking.

Length and photos. Photos grow faster than the price, from about 35 in an hour to 400 in a full day, so a full day costs far less per photo. One hour is the most common format: 107 of the 266 packages.

Occasion. Couples, families, solo portraits and proposals are booked by the hour. Weddings and elopements are quoted by the half day or the day, and that is where the catalogue tops out, at €3,220 for a full day.

Season. There is no high-season supplement: a package has one price whatever the month. The season changes availability and light instead. Weekends from May to October go first, and in July and August the beaches of Cascais and the Algarve fill during the morning, so sessions move to early morning or the last hour before sunset. From November to March Porto is wetter than Lisbon, and Madeira's peaks can sit in cloud while the coast is in sun. Moving a session for bad weather is always free.

Sunrise. No sunrise supplement either; the slots are just scarcer, so book them earlier. Sintra's parks open after sunrise, so a sunrise shoot there happens in the town or on the coast. In Madeira, sunrise on Pico do Arieiro often puts you above a sea of cloud.
