How does Photo Portugal work?
You have two ways to book: browse photographers yourself β view portfolios, read verified reviews, and book directly. Or use our free concierge matching service β tell us your preferences and we'll hand-pick 2-3 photographers for you. Either way, payments are secure and your photos are delivered to a private gallery. Learn more on our How It Works page.
How much does a photoshoot cost?
Prices vary by photographer and package, typically ranging from β¬120 for a 30-minute quick session to β¬500+ for a full-day experience. Each photographer sets their own prices and packages, which you can see on their profile page. See our pricing page for an overview.
How do I book a photographer?
You can browse photographers yourself β pick one you like, choose a package, select your date and time, and send a booking request. Or use our free concierge matching β tell us your preferences and we'll send you 2-3 hand-picked options to choose from. Either way, the photographer confirms within 24 hours and your payment is held securely until photos are delivered.
What if I don't know which photographer to choose?
Use our free concierge matching service. Tell us your location, dates, group size, and budget β our team will talk to photographers, check availability, and send you 2-3 hand-picked options who are perfect for your shoot. You simply choose your favorite and book. It's completely free and there's no obligation.
How does payment work? Is it secure?
All payments are processed securely through Stripe, trusted by millions of businesses worldwide. Your payment is held in escrow β we don't release it to the photographer until you receive and accept your photos. This means you're always protected. You can pay with credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes, you can cancel through your dashboard. Cancellation 7+ days before the shoot gives you a full refund. Between 3β7 days: 50% refund. Less than 3 days: no refund (the photographer reserved their time for you). See our Terms of Service for full details.
Can I reschedule my booking?
Yes. One free reschedule is included if you request it 48+ hours before the shoot. Rescheduling due to bad weather is always free for both parties. For changes within 48 hours, contact your photographer directly β most are flexible and happy to find an alternative time.
What happens if the photographer cancels?
You receive a 100% refund, always. If the cancellation is last-minute (less than 48 hours), we'll also try to find a replacement photographer for you. Photographers who cancel repeatedly may be removed from the platform.
How long until I receive my photos?
Delivery time depends on the package you choose β each package shows the estimated delivery days on the photographer's profile (typically 3β14 days). Once ready, you'll receive a link to a private, password-protected gallery. You'll first see watermarked previews to review the photos. Once you approve the delivery, you'll get access to the full-resolution images and can download everything as a ZIP archive.
What if I'm not happy with the photos?
You have 7 days after delivery to accept your photos or open a dispute. Valid reasons for a dispute include: significantly fewer photos than promised, wrong location, severe technical issues, or photographer no-show. We'll work with both parties to find a fair resolution β reshoot, partial refund, or full refund. Note that subjective style preferences are not grounds for a refund, so review portfolios carefully before booking. See our Terms of Service for details.
How long can I access my photo gallery?
Your private gallery stays accessible for 90 days after delivery. We recommend downloading all your photos within this period. You can download them individually or as a complete ZIP archive.
What if it rains on my photoshoot day?
Weather rescheduling is always free for both parties β no penalties, no fees. Either you or the photographer can request a reschedule due to weather conditions unsuitable for outdoor photography. Discuss a backup plan with your photographer when you book.
Are the reviews verified?
Yes. All reviews on Photo Portugal are tied to completed bookings. Only clients who have had a confirmed photoshoot can leave a review, ensuring authentic and trustworthy feedback.
What locations are available?
Do photographers speak English?
Most photographers on our platform speak English. You can filter photographers by language on the catalog page. Many also speak Portuguese, Spanish, French, and German.
How do I become a photographer on Photo Portugal?
Click 'Join as Photographer' and create your account. Set up your profile, upload portfolio photos, create packages, and start receiving booking requests. We offer Free, Pro, and Premium plans with different features and commission rates.
What are the photographer plans?
We offer three plans: Free (20% commission, 1 location), Pro at β¬29/month (15% commission, 5 locations), and Premium at β¬59/month (10% commission, all locations, custom profile URL, priority support). All plans include up to 100 portfolio photos. Visit our pricing page for a full comparison.
What is the Early Bird program?
We're offering exclusive benefits to our first photographers. The first 10 photographers (Founding tier) get the Premium plan free forever with an exclusive "Founding Photographer" badge. The next 25 get Premium free for 6 months, and the next 50 get Pro free for 3 months. Spots are limited and first-come-first-served. Check available spots.
What happens if I don't show up to my photoshoot?
If you don't show up to your scheduled photoshoot without prior notice, no refund will be issued. The full payment goes to the photographer as compensation for their reserved time. If your plans change, we strongly recommend cancelling in advance β cancellation 7+ days before the shoot gives you a full refund, and 3β7 days gives you a 50% refund.
What happens if my photographer doesn't show up?
If your photographer fails to show up, you'll receive a full 100% refund. We recommend waiting 15 minutes at the meeting point, then opening a dispute through your dashboard. Our team will process your refund promptly. For photographers who repeatedly fail to show up, the platform will attempt to find a replacement photographer for affected clients, and the photographer may face account suspension.
When is my payment released to the photographer?
Your payment is held securely in escrow by Stripe until after your photos are delivered. Once the photographer delivers your photos, you have 7 days to review and either accept the delivery or open a dispute. When you accept, the payment is released to the photographer. If you don't respond within 14 days after delivery, the payment is automatically released.
What happens in case of extreme weather or emergencies?
In cases of force majeure β natural disasters, severe weather warnings, pandemics, or other extraordinary circumstances beyond anyone's control β both parties are entitled to a full refund or a free reschedule at no penalty. Neither the client nor the photographer is held responsible. Contact our support team or open a request through your dashboard.
What if my photos are delivered late?
Photos should be delivered within the timeframe agreed in your chosen package. If delivery is 3 or more days late, you may request a partial refund of up to 20% of the package price. If delivery is 14 or more days late, you are entitled to a full refund. You can open a dispute through your dashboard to request a refund for late delivery.
