Where Cascais shoots happen
- Boca do Inferno. A chasm in the cliffs where the sea bursts in, a short walk west of the centre. It is most dramatic with a swell, and the late-afternoon sun comes in from the open sea.
- Casa de Santa Maria and the Santa Marta lighthouse. A tiled house and a blue-and-white striped lighthouse side by side above a tiny cove, a few minutes' walk from the marina. It works at almost any hour.
- Praia da Rainha and the old town. A pocket beach between rocks in the middle of town, and the black-and-white wave pavements behind it. Empty early, packed by late morning in summer.
- Guincho. An open Atlantic beach backed by dunes, with the Sintra hills behind. The north wind often blows hard on summer afternoons, so hair and dresses fly, and the sun sets straight into the sea.
- The seafront promenade to Estoril. A flat walk of a few kilometres along the water, easy with a pushchair. At first light you share it only with runners.
