Photoshoots in Tomar start from €279, with most one- to two-hour packages between €279 and €450 depending on duration, the number of edited photos and the locations covered. Tomar sits roughly ninety minutes from both Lisbon and Coimbra, so a travelling photographer may add a travel fee. Entry tickets to the Convento de Cristo are separate and paid on site.

The Templar castle walls and the round Charola inside the Convento de Cristo, the carved Manueline window seen from the Santa Bárbara cloister, the shaded paths of the Mata Nacional dos Sete Montes, the lane of the medieval synagogue, the riverside gardens on the Nabão with their old water wheel, and the arches of the Pegões aqueduct outside town.

Inland Ribatejo gets hot in July and August, easily into the mid-thirties, so shoot early or in the last hours of light. The convent cloisters hold deep shade all day, which is useful. Spring is green and mild, and autumn light on the yellow stone is the best of the year. Every four years the Festa dos Tabuleiros fills the streets in July.

The Convento de Cristo is a ticketed UNESCO monument with fixed opening hours, and everyone in your group needs an entry ticket. Handheld photography without flash is normally fine, but tripods, lighting and dressed-up or commercial sessions need permission from the monument in advance. The castle walls, the Sete Montes park and the old town outside are free and unrestricted.
