The marina with its yachts and waterfront walk, the orange and ochre cliffs of Praia da Falésia stretching six kilometres east, the pines and boardwalks along the top of the cliff, the Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila beside the harbour, and the wide open sand of Praia da Rocha Baixinha at low tide.

Falésia is a sunrise beach: the cliffs face roughly south-east and turn deep orange in the first light, with almost nobody on the sand. By midday the colour flattens and the loungers fill up. Evening light on the marina is warm and the boats catch it well. Summer is busy and hot; May and October give the same light with more space.

The marina is privately managed. Walking and shooting along the public quays is normally fine, but anything that looks like a production — tripods, lighting, a bridal party or a session aboard a moored yacht — needs clearance from the marina office beforehand. The beaches, cliff paths and Cerro da Vila are unrestricted. Ask your photographer to sort permissions when the date is set.

For peak wedding season (May through October), we strongly recommend booking 6-12 months in advance, especially for Saturday weddings at popular venues. Portugal's top wedding photographers often have their prime summer dates booked a full year ahead, particularly in sought-after regions like the Algarve, Sintra, and Douro Valley. Full-day packages of up to 16 hours are available for extended celebrations that start with morning preparations and continue through a late-night party or after-party.
