The golden rule is to coordinate without matching — choose complementary colors and classic styles that reflect your personality. Solid colors and muted tones (navy, cream, sage, terracotta) photograph beautifully against Portugal's warm-toned architecture and lush green landscapes. Avoid busy patterns, large logos, or neon colors that can distract from you as a couple. Comfortable shoes are essential, especially in Lisbon and Porto where cobblestone streets and hillside viewpoints are common. Bring a second outfit if you'd like variety — many couples change halfway through longer sessions. Golden hour — the hour after sunrise or before sunset — provides the most flattering, warm, romantic light and is universally recommended by professional photographers. In Portugal, sunset times range from around 5:30pm in winter to 9:00pm in summer, so plan accordingly. Sunset sessions in Lisbon and Porto are especially popular because the westward-facing viewpoints catch the light over the river and rooftops beautifully. Sunrise shoots are quieter and give you famous landmarks nearly to yourselves, which is ideal for Sintra or heavily touristed areas. Photoshoots in Nazaré start from €310, with most one- to two-hour packages between €310 and €450 depending on duration, the number of edited photos and whether you cover both the beach and the clifftop at Sítio. Nazaré is about ninety minutes from Lisbon, so a photographer travelling out may add a travel fee.

Nazaré is two different places depending on the season. From October to March the canyon offshore sends in the giant swells the town is famous for, with wind, spray and crowds on the headland.
