The ridge blocks the north wind, so the sea here is glassy on days when the ocean coast is churning — that is why the water reads turquoise. Late spring and September are ideal: warm, clear and calm. Midsummer midday is harsh and the beaches are full. Winter is beautiful and empty, though the access road can close in heavy rain.

In summer, roughly mid-June to mid-September, the road down to Portinho and the Arrábida beaches is closed to private cars during the day, with a paid shuttle from Setúbal and a small quota of parking. It works, but it fixes your timings. Sessions outside those months, or at sunrise before the restriction starts, are far simpler to plan.

For more intimate weddings (under 30 guests) or shorter celebrations, 6 hours of coverage may be sufficient to capture all the key moments. Full-day packages of up to 16 hours are available for extended celebrations that start with morning preparations and continue through a late-night party or after-party.
