Photoshoots in Faro start from €279, with most one- to two-hour packages between €279 and €450 depending on duration, the number of edited photos and the locations covered. The walled old town works as a compact session on foot, while adding a boat to one of the barrier islands turns it into a half-day booking.

The Arco da Vila with storks nesting on top, the orange trees and cobbles of Largo da Sé, the cathedral tower looking out over the lagoon, the marina beneath the city walls, the salt pans and channels of the Ria Formosa, and the empty sand of Ilha Deserta or Ilha de Faro.

The old town is small and quiet once the day-trippers thin out, so early morning and the hour before sunset are both calm. The lagoon is at its most graphic at low tide, when the channels draw lines across the flats. Storks are on the rooftops through spring. Summer is hot, but Faro never feels as pressed as the western Algarve.

Boats to Ilha Deserta leave from the pier below the old town and take about forty-five minutes; Ilha de Faro is reachable by road across a narrow bridge. Outside summer the timetable thins to a few departures a day and the last boat back is early, which rules out sunset on the island. There is almost no shade or shelter out there.

It depends on the photographer. Many studio photographers run their own space and include it in the session fee — check the package description on their profile. Others book a third-party studio per session and pass the cost through (typically €40–€100 depending on city and studio size). For clarity, the price shown on Photo Portugal includes everything unless the photographer's profile says otherwise. If you're unsure, message the photographer before booking — they'll confirm whether studio rental is bundled.

Most 60-minute studio sessions include 2–3 outfit changes; 90-minute sessions allow 3–4. Studios have changing areas, mirrors, and full-length lighting for outfit checks. Bring outfits on hangers (less wrinkled) and shoes that match — feet often appear in editorial-style shots. For headshots specifically, one neutral top + one professional/business top is enough; for personal branding or editorial, more variety helps. Your photographer will guide which outfits photograph best against the chosen backdrop.
