Not every photographer makes the cut. We personally vet every single photographer on our platform to ensure you get an exceptional experience.
Step 1.Portfolio Review
We start by reviewing each photographer's complete body of work — not just the highlights. We look for consistency in quality, natural lighting skills, genuine emotion in portraits, and the ability to capture Portugal's unique character.
Step 2.Social Media & Reputation Check
We examine each photographer's presence across platforms — Instagram, Google reviews, wedding directories, and local photography communities. We look for authentic engagement, real client interactions, and a professional online presence.
Step 3.Personal Conversation
Every photographer goes through a personal conversation with our team. We discuss their experience, their approach to making clients comfortable, how they handle challenging conditions, and their commitment to delivering exceptional results.
Step 4.Test Session & Onboarding
Approved photographers complete a thorough onboarding process including profile setup, portfolio curation, and package creation. We guide them through our quality standards and client communication best practices.
Step 5.Ongoing Quality Monitoring
Selection doesn't end at approval. We continuously monitor client reviews, delivery quality, response times, and overall satisfaction. Photographers who consistently exceed expectations earn Verified and Featured badges.

Photo Portugal was founded by Kate Belova, a professional photographer with over 10 years of experience. Kate knows firsthand what makes a great photoshoot — the technical skill, the ability to connect with people, and the instinct for finding the perfect light. That's why she personally oversees the photographer selection process.
